How to choose the right balconette bra

Cup Size

Balconette bras provide half coverage, only the lower half of your breasts, so it is crucial to find a bra that fits comfortably without your breasts spilling out. When trying on these bras make sure the top of the cup isn’t pushing into your breasts, this will cause discomfort if you wear it for long periods of time. If it feels tight, definitely go up a cup size. If you have the opposite problem and there is a gap between the top of the cup and your breasts, you should go down a cup size.

Straps

Balconette bras have wide set straps which are great for wide necklines, but if you get the wrong size these straps will tend to fall off. When trying on your bra check if the straps are loose and if they are, choose a smaller size. If you find the straps digging into your shoulders, opt for a bigger size. Of course, most balconette bras also offer adjustable straps so it shouldn’t be much of a problem finding the perfect strap dimensions for your body type.

Band Size

The size of the band is another important feature, you need a band that is supportive while not being constrictive. The band of the balconette bra should lie level as it circles your body, a common mistake many girls make is wearing a bra with a band that rises high in the back. If the band is a good fit, you should be able to put one finger below the band in the front and 2 fingers below it as well. If this is not possible you need to go up a size. Alternatively, if you can fit more than one or two fingers in that space, you have too much room and should go down a band size.

Gore

The gore (the fabric in-between the two cups) needs to be flat against your chest without stretching too much. If it does not lie flat and pokes out from the chest, you probably need a smaller bra cup size. If you it is too tight and presses hard against your chest, go up a cup size.

What is a balconette bra?

So what actually is a balconette bra? A balconette bra is a style of bra that has low-cut cups with wide set straps. This bra was specifically designed to be worn with low-cut clothing and give the wearer extra cleavage. Balconette bras are also known as shelf bras, and are similar to the demi-cup bra. However, the difference between the two is that the balconette bra pushes the breasts up and creates more cleavage than the demi-cup style. The distinguishing features of the balconette bra is the wide set straps, half-cups, underwire, and padding. This creates an overall design that is equally sexy and practical, a combination that is hard to come by. The bra allows for more cleavage and natural shaping of the breasts, while simultaneously providing comfortable support throughout the entire day.

How is a balconette bra designed?

Balconette bras tend to have a short gore (gore is the fabric between the two cups) with underwire that is longer on the sides. They also have wide set bra straps that are attached to the side of the cups.

Why choose a balconette bra?

If you want to look good and feel good, a balconette bra is the best option. It allows you to wear your cutest low-cut shirts and wide neckline dresses, all while providing plenty of comfort. This bra style also enhances your cleavage, shapes your breasts naturally, and provides support.

Who would like balconette bras?

Fortunately, balconette bras are perfect for women with big or small breasts. No matter your cup size, this bra will provide support and rounded shaping. Those who will especially love this bra style is women who have broad shoulders and rounded breasts that are fuller at the top. If you breasts aren’t as full at the top however, it may be harder to find the right fit for a balconette bra, but it is still possible.
